No matter how much fun a trip is, it is always nice to be home.  The one thing that always strikes me when stepping out of the Anchorage Airport is the crisp, freshness of the air.  It is hard to describe, but I find it invigorating!

Now the one thing that takes a bit of getting used to this time of year is the short days.  I captured this image just a short time ago at about 9:15 in the morning.  As you can see the sun isn’t up yet!

Marie Osmond

I didn’t know Marie Osmond was such a “big” star – she must be 200 feet tall!

According to the newspaper, for some reason, some guest to the Flamingo have requested rooms behind her teeth and eyes.

We are now making the trek to our favorite quiet little desert town of Borrego Springs, California where we will clean things up and store our rig before making the long trek home. Because of this, the blog may be a little quiet the next few days.

The Real Deal

Of all the poker players I photographed last week, it is interesting that the two I posted photos of were Doyle Brunson and Daniel Negreanu. Of course I picked them because they are two of the most famous and popular players – but get this – last night, Janine sat down and played Texas hold’em with the legendary Doyle Brunson! I’m serious – this isn’t April Fools!

And if that wasn’t enough, I did some side gambling on a prop bet with Daniel Negreanu! Now granted, I’m a gambling wimp, so it was only for a dollar, but still!Read More

Action Moab

Climbing in Moab.

Climbing in Moab.

Last year I wrote a post entitled action Jackson where I wrote about the amazing range of outdoor recreation activities easily accessible in Jackson, Wyoming and the Grand Tetons. The same can be said for Moab, Utah as well.

Everyone is familiar with the mountain biking and jeeping in the area, but there is also great climbing and bouldering. With the Colorado River flowing through town, you can canoe or kayak calm water, or raft and kayak big white water. There are numerous hiking trails. Canyons to be explored – well you get the idea.

Rock Art, Moab, Utah.

There is an amazing variety of Native American Rock Art in the Moab, Utah area – some of it is really fascinating. You could spend an entire visit just checking out rock art locations.

I’m trying to use my down time in Vegas to caption and edit images – it is cheaper then the alternative activities. 🙂

Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu at the WPT Festa al Lago Tounament, Bellagio, Las Vegas.

Daniel staring down an opponent during a hand. If I had to pick, Daniel would be my favorite player as he looks like he is always having a great time at the tables, laughing and joking with the other players – while usually winning!

If you remember my Phil Ivey post, you will know my last attempt to cover one of these World Poker Tournaments wasn’t very successful. This time we made the arrangements to get the necessary credentials in advance.

By the way, Daniel was the chip leader at the end of day two, but was eliminated just in the money on day 3.
