Lupine Bear

Brown Bear, Lake Clark National Park, Alaska.

We had a lot of photo opportunities with brown bears in fields of lupine this past June – definitely the most I have every had. It is still a challenging photo, as the bears are in constant motion, and the lupine can be as tall as the bears face. So you are waiting for those brief moments when the bear looks up, and there is a gap in the lupine. Lake Clark National Park, Alaska.

This brown bear decided to lay down in the sand to take a rest, so I laid down as well to be at eye level. Lake Clark National Park, Alaska.

In many of the bird species in Costa Rica, the male and female appear very different. Here is a male (black) and female scarlet-rumped tanager.

Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica.

On the first day of my Costa Rica photo tour I missed out on capturing a close-up of a yellow-throated toucan since I wasn’t carrying my camera. Was so glad to get another chance at it on my last day in Costa Rica. Osa Peninsula.
