Landscaping with Native Plants of the Southwest
I thought I would continue the cover theme for a couple more days since we have a nice batch of new ones. This is a photo from Organ Pipe National Monument in Arizona during the amazing spring bloom two years ago. This looks really appealing to me right now – in Alaska we currently have mostly dirty snow and leafless trees. Alaska makes a drastic transition in the next couple of months.

Fodor’s 2007 Costa Rica Travel Guide
I think I mentioned here before that I still get a kick out of seeing my photos on the cover of publications. Since I started doing some shameless self promotion in my last post, I thought I would continue by sharing some of our new covers over the next few days. This cover of Fodor’s, along with the cover of Frommer’s Costa Rica 2007 are both from our trip to Costa Rica in 2004. Humpback Whale in Seward, Alaska
Seward residents have been treated to a visiting Humpback Whale for the past week. This isn’t one of those whales you can barely see looking South out the bay. No, this whale has been coming right up to the head of the bay and swimming close to town, and even near the cruiseship dock! We have seen it on four different days this week from our office – whale watching is sure a nice break from key-wording! Yesterday there was a pretty big crowd of cars and locals watching. I think it is pretty cool to see people stopping and still getting excited about a whale swimming by considering most residents of Seward have probably seen a lot of whales over the years.Read More
Two big thumbs up for the U.S. Alpine Ski Team!
The U.S. Alpine Ski team has been in Alaska this past week for the U.S. Alpine National Championships. I didn’t make it this year, but my sister and her family did. She said the skiers were awesome, taking the time to pose for photos and to autograph my nieces’ and nephew’s ski jackets and helmets. Not just the B teamers, but the biggest stars like Bodie Miller and Julia Mancuso – two of the best skiers in the world! My sister now has a cool family photo with Bodie Miller in it! Read More
