Humpback whales, Alaska Inside Passge.

This is a large group of about 14 humpback whale cooperative feeding by creating large “nets” of bubbles which helps concentrate the fish – then the group rises up from below the fish with their mouths wide open! Really amazing to watch. This was from last week’s bear and whale trip. I begin week two today.

A bald eagle taking off during my recent bear trip in Alaska. Today I am off for two weeks in the Inside Passage and hopefully lots more eagles!

Another image from a beautiful evening with brown bears about a week ago.

This afternoon I take off and will be away from Seward for an entire month! I do back to back bear and whale photo tours in the Inside Passage, then a trip to Wrangell that will include a couple of days at the Anan Bear Observatory, and finally I will fly straight to Kodiak for my Katmai Bear Photo Tour. Going to be an amazing month! I will have my laptop and will share images and iPhone updates when I can, however at times internet will be non existent.

A couple of second summer brown bears cubs nursing – such a treat to experience! They actually make purring sounds while they nurse. I think we saw 7 nursing sessions the second week, and 6 the first on my Alaska Bear Photo Tour!
