A Brown or Grizzly Bear, Katmai National Park, Alaska.
A brown bear chasing down a salmon last summer at Katmai National Park, Alaska.
I have been working on a trip report from last summer’s Katmai trip and I’m surprised at how many images I haven’t had a chance to share yet including this one! I have one cabin left for the 2023 Katmai Bear Photo Tour.
The brittlebush (wildflowers) next to one of the waterholes is really looking good right now, so I set up the camera, trigger and flashes in front of it last night and captured images of this hooded skunk among others. I have shared a number of photos of a hooded skunk this winter with a injured rear leg. I believe this is a different one. The rear legs looks perfectly fine – granted it could have healed. However this one behaves differently. It is more skittish. Where Gimpy as I liked to call it was completely oblivious to my presence, this one will scurry off a short distance and watch. I’ll keep watching for Gimpy.
A couple of striped skunks facing off last night at the waterhole. Judging from the photos, I believe we have three different individual striped skunks coming around. Two of them seem to get along pretty well – mating pair maybe?
A White-winged Dove getting a drink at the Reflection Blind. These guys usually begin showing up a little later into the spring, but this one is definitely an early bird!
Between traveling to Alaska and having guests here at the Desert Photo Retreat, I haven’t had a chance to do my own photography. Well, that changed this morning – I spent it at the Reflection Table Blind and had a great time! Gambel’s Quail.
