Check out this massive ice berg in Bear Glacier Lagoon. Helicopter Mike says it is the biggest one he as seen in there and based off his helicopters altimeter estimated the height to be about 150 feet tall, and nearly as wide as a city block. Keep in mind, some 90% is underwater!

IPhone photo. Back from another great trip into Kenai Fjords, National, Park! At times, the weather was challenging, but it sure helped the waterfalls at cataract Cove! This is only half of the granite wall, it looks just like this to the right as well. Dramatic!
The seldom visited McCarty Glacier, Kenai Fjords National Park, Alaska.
Home briefly from an amazing trip into the remote reaches of Kenai Fjords. We went nearly 3 days without seeing another boat, plane or other human! We visited far away places such as Two Arm Bay, Nuka Bay and McCarty. We saw over 20 bears lots of baby goats, orca whales and so much more!
Very little of McCarty Glacier actually touches tidewater.

I head out tomorrow morning for a 7 day trip into Kenai Fjords National Park! This is a longer trip than normal with folks who have done the Kenai Fjords trip with me before, so we are going to travel much further into the Park to places that are rarely visited. I’m excited to see new places, or return to areas I haven’t visited in almost 20 years. I should have lots to share in a week! This was from last year with kayak guide Julia Savage

Aialik Glacier at sunrise, Kenai Fjords National Park, Alaska. My first Alaska photo tour for this year starts in less than two weeks and begins with my hometown National Park – now it is close enough that I can start getting excited! This is an older image.

We had only been home couple of hours when a humpback whale swam by out in front of the house – that is some welcome home! It was too far for a photo, so I grabbed this older image to accompany this post.
