Northern Cardinal, McDowell Mountain Regional Park, Arizona.
I was finally able to capture a decent image of a male Northern Cardinal Sunday morning. These bright red guys sure look out of place in the monochromatic desert.
Believe it or not, this was with a Canon 5D Mark III and a Canon 100-400. The secret, I was shooting through the window of our trailer, worked great as a blind! Plus, cold beer close by. 🙂

Beautiful bird images, Ron. Having grown up back east, I can’t tell you how much I miss seeing cardinals.
Curious, what lens / camera system are you using for these shots?

Ah… I knew there must have been some kind of secret potion at work. Hopefully it was a good beer. 🙂
Cheers & Happy Holidays!
