Unfortunately a broken ankle has forced one of my guests to cancel his spot in my August Alaska Bear and Puffin Photo Tour.

My trips have been full for months, so if you missed out before, here is a chance to get in on this amazing trip!  See all kinds of behavior, often we see nursing sows at close range!  These bear trips never disappoint.   Plus, this is maybe the best place in Alaska to photograph horned puffin!  Throw in eagles, sea otters…  Well you get the idea.  Check out the link for more information.

I spent the month of March split between two extreme environments – the Sonoran Desert of Anza-Borrego, and the Alaskan Arctic well north of the Arctic Circle.  Both places beautiful in there own way.  This image was near the end our our trip down south, shortly before photographing the amazing aurora in Alaska.  Such variety sure keeps the creative photography  juices flowing!  By the way, this would be a bad place to wear flip flops.  🙂

Because the Brooks Range is so beautiful, I usually try to include some of the scenery in my aurora photos.  I think that helps set these images apart from ones captured in less scenic areas.  But, sometimes the aurora overhead is so amazing that I had to ignore the scenery.  This photo was captured looking straight up.  It is amazing how much this one was dancing in the sky!

Well I’m already off – heading North of the Arctic Circle to co-lead an Aurora Photo Tour.  I won’t have internet, so I’ll be out of touch for about 10 days.  See you on the backside!

Anza-Borrego from earlier this week.

I’m posting from the Phoenix Airport waiting for my flight back to Alaska.  It was a great six weeks in the desert.

I’m only home for two very busy days – we have a unusually large back-load of prints to prepare and ship during these two days – not sure why the increase, but no complaints!  And thanks for your patience!

Then I’m off to the Arctic to co-lead an Aurora photo tour with Hugh Rose.  Should be a great trip!  I know most of the guests, and it will be a fun group.
