Most of the time we have a lot of birds at our feeders, but sometimes we just have one.  🙂  We have a pair of kestrels hanging around the property, and on occasion they will swoop by the feeders looking for a possible meal.  Actually saw one fight with a loggerhead shrike!  Both eventually flew away.

Well as most people guessed, yesterday’s photo was of a couple baby javelina.  They were so cute and tiny!  This image with the mom puts their size in perspective.  They didn’t stay very far from the mom, and were constantly trying to nurse!

We had a new visitor to our bird feeders yesterday, and this one is really exciting!  The gray fox is such an elusive desert animal that is usually only active at night.  Until this trip, I had only seen one, at sunset in Red Rock Canyon near Vegas.  This guy drank from my water drip, ate some bird seeds off the ground, and spent a lot of time watching the nearby birds, but didn’t go after any.  Maybe he will grab on of the many squirrels raiding our feeders.  🙂

We have had numerous flycatchers around the property here in Arizona.  They are beautiful birds, but hard to differentiate as the different species look very similar.  This guy made it easy by landing and hanging out on a nearby ocotillo.

It was awesome to have this colorful visitor to our Arizona property yesterday – Western Tanager is beautiful!  Having blooming Ironwood for a perch, and blooming palo verde for a background was a nice bonus!
