If you go to Bing.com today you will see my time-lapse video as the back ground.  Cool!  It is great to see some of my video efforts paying off.  This is a screen shot – I’m thinking it will only be on there for one day.

This was with my Canon 7D with a 2x converter on a 70-200 at 140 – in other words I had trouble getting these guys in the frame with just a 70-20o mm lens !

Back from an absolutely amazing trip – my photo tour couldn’t have gone better!  Since I go there so often, I didn’t think I would do much shooting – well, 3,600 photos later…  We saw so much amazing stuff including nursing and mating up close!  Back out the door – hope to share more over the next week.

Had a brief moment so thought I would share a quick photo from the first evening – we are having an awesome bear tour!

Crazy Alaska Summer!

Here is a photo from last years bear tour that I hadn't shared yet - Lake Clark National Park, Alaska.

Here is a rare weekend post in which I’m going to make excuses as to why I may not post much over the next two weeks!  🙂  As an Alaskan based photographer, we make most of our hay in the summer – and that means I have a couple of busy weeks ahead.  I will still do updates here as I have time and internet connections, but in case I don’t, you will know why.

Early Saturday morning I head out on a week long Alaska Bear Photo Tour.   Because they are so popular, I’m doing two this year.  Both sold out many months ago, and we are now taking reservations for August 2013.

I’m excited about this one as this is a new time of year for me.  I’m also excited because half my group is made up of people who have been on other workshops / tours with me – two of them were on last years bear tour!  For one of them, this will be her 6th summer visiting the same lodge with different photo groups.  I’m honored that her last couple of visits have been with me!

I’m back for one day then head out with the CEO of a major U.S. company for a private tour where we will be doing things like riding and photographing dog teams in the mountains above Girdwood!  Should be fun.

After that I have some pending assignment work.   Gotta do as much as possible in the short Alaska summer.

So as I have time and internet connections – I’ll try to offer updates as I should have some fun things to share!  But if I don’t, you will know why and I’ll share when I get back to the office sometime after the 4th of July.

Cheers!

I was hoping for a dramatic sunset last night – sunset by the way is after 11:30 at night!  Unfortunately clouds moved in right after this and the light never materialized.  Still, a beautiful place!

This huge waterfall dumps straight into the ocean and is one of many places we visit on my Kenai Fjords photo tour.

All my workshops and tours are sold out this year except for this one which still has room.  I’m surprised, as this is maybe the best of the bunch!  So, if you want to see whales, eagles, bears, puffins and amazing scenery, check it out:  Kenai Fjords National Park photo tour.

Note, there has been a date change.
