A humpback whale last week in Chatam Strait, Alaska.

A couple of photos of this beautiful 450 foot tall waterfall that we spent time with last week.

This guy was picky, throwing back the male salmon, and keeping only the females in which he largely only ate the row leaving the rest of the salmon for the eagles. Here you can see some of the row squirting out as he carries it.

A Rufous Hummingbird in the same field of fireweed as yesterday’s photo. Pretty good day one for my Southeast Alaska Trip!

Back from an awesome trip to Southeast Alaska! We had bears with spring cubs, breaching whales and even bubble-net feeding! Not too mention, awesome scenery. This field of fireweed had dozens and dozens of Rufus hummingbirds. It was incredible! More in the days to come.

I’m back in Juneau – I begin another Alaska Whale and Bear Photo Tour in the morning. This sow with cubs was at Pack Creek in May, fingers crossed she is still around! See you in a week!
