On my last desert trip I shot a lot of 3D video and time-lapses. I have been busy putting the time-lapses together, and since most of my subscribers here don’t have a way to view my 3D footage, I thought I would throw together some of the time-lapse clips in a 2D version so that they can be seen here. My next step is to put together the 3D versions – I’m really looking forward to seeing how the clouds in the sky look in 3D!
The footage includes a variety of places mostly in Anza-Borrego and Tonto National Forest in Arizona, along with a clip from Las Vegas. The last three scenes are my first attempts of filming from day to night – the results are pretty neat and I look forward to doing more.

Very cool Ron! Did you use any panning equipment or just manually rotate the ballhead for the movement?
I’ve been playing around with time lapses from the porch of my house in UT. I’m hoping to catch a good sunset on the mountains at some point, but haven’t gotten anything too spectacular yet. Have to get Quicktime so I can experiment with putting the vid together.

The time-lapses are pretty fun because you never know how they are going to turn out. I mounted my camera to an slow turning telescope mount for the panning sequences.

Pretty cool Ron. I don’t know if I have ever seen a time lapse pan before, neat effect. The music was pretty ominous. Listening to it, I was expecting a bit more cataclysmic ending than clouds. 🙂 Ah well, I will wait for part 2. Well done.
