We were fortunate to see wild wolves everyday during our time in Denali last week, but they were often hunting or resting too far away for decent photography. The exception was this one who shared this squirrel with another wolf just out of sight, and then came back for another look as you see below.
Wolves have long been a favorite subject for me – here are more wild wolf photos.

STUNNING!!!!! I am so jealous!
Sitting here waiting to hear more on the hearing today in Missoula that will determine the fate of the wolves in Montana and Idaho. I’m glad they still have a safe haven in Denali.
Wow Ron! Beautiful animals; beautiful photos.

Thanks Rebecca! Denali is a special place for wolves.
I would die if I got shots like that of wolves. What f/stop is the bottom picture?

With an estimated population of 59 wolves in the entire park you did just great to be able to locate and see one, let alone capture such a quality image. Kudos Ron!

@ Scott. Thanks! It was with a 600 and a 1.4 x converter so I was shooting wide open at f/ 5.6, 1/320 of a second with a ISO of 800.
@ Michael Thanks! I own that video and have watched it a few times – it is awesome!
