Anza-Borrego Slot Canyon, California.

To continue on yesterday’s post on the Kiboko Bag – this was our final destination.  This slot canyon is off of Butte Pass Road in the central portion of the park, and is listed in most visitor guides.  It may not have the rich reds of a Utah or Arizona slot canyon, but it still has interesting geographic formations, and wonderful indirect reflected light.

Thanks Dennis – it is a nice one.

Thanks a lot Sally! I usually don’t enter contests, but that does look like a good one. Thanks again,

    Ron

  3. Hi Ron: although the Lindsay guide for AB calls The Slot “sandstone”, I think you’ll agree that it is nothing like the sandstone of the Colorado Plateau. I think “junk congolomerate” and “solid mud” are more useful geological terms 🙂

Cool photo! When do you return home? I’d love to come down and meet you.

    Hey MG,

There you go dropping all those fancy geology terms on me! I agree, there was a lot of conglomerate in that canyon. I gotta say, that canyon was a pleasant surprise.

We left AB last weekend, the blog is running about a week behind real time right now – but we are now staying in Newport Dunes for about a month. I was planning on sending you an email, it would be great to meet. We are trying to take advantage of these clear skies over the next couple of days, going to hit LA, Catalina etc., I will send you an email in a couple of days to see if we can work something out.

    Thanks,

    Ron
