Wonderful to be home from a great trip! This is a polar bear on a hot summer evening last week in the Alaska Arctic.   Last year on this same date, I had snow. This year I was often in a short sleeve t-shirt.

Captured with an Olympus e-1mx, 300 f/4 at f/4, ISO 640 and 1/8,000 of a second.

Kodiak's Surfers Beach.
Kodiak’s Surfers Beach.

Home from a quick trip to Kodiak where we had some hot, hazy, crazy weather! One day it hit 87 degrees! Made this seem like even more of a surfers beach then it already was.

We were mainly there to check out restaurants and hotels for next year’s Katmai Bear Photo Tour, Happy to say we have lined up some great spots – I know it is a year away, but already excited for that trip!

Desert Photo Retreat Update

I’m happy to report that my automatic water system and bird feeder both worked great this past summer despite some damage to the water lines by javelina. We had all the regular visitors including a couple of types of owls, skunks along with the wildlife I’m showing here from the game cam. Best news – looks like our fox pair had 4 offspring! Click on each photo for a description and some interesting details.

Our javelinas had two little babies.

Bobcat from last May at the Desert Photo Retreat, Arizona.

Heading down to Tucson for a couple of nights to refill the water system and automatic bird feeder – can’t wait to check the trail cams to see how our wildlife is doing! This bobcat was from our last night at the Desert Photo Retreat in May.
