Here is a better look at this beautiful bird as it sits just outside our rv on a Ocotillo.  I was shooting almost straight into the sun, so I made sure I exposed for the bird even though it would mean blowing out the background.

Most of the time we have a lot of birds at our feeders, but sometimes we just have one.  🙂  We have a pair of kestrels hanging around the property, and on occasion they will swoop by the feeders looking for a possible meal.  Actually saw one fight with a loggerhead shrike!  Both eventually flew away.

Well as most people guessed, yesterday’s photo was of a couple baby javelina.  They were so cute and tiny!  This image with the mom puts their size in perspective.  They didn’t stay very far from the mom, and were constantly trying to nurse!

These guys showed up on our property a few minutes ago – any guesses as to what they are?  I’ll share the answer in the morning post.

Northern Cardinal.

Northern Cardinal.

Been a very busy week or so, so haven’t had a chance to post.

In brief, we flew to Arizona, picked up our trailer, had to rent a tractor to repair road damage thanks to summer rain, and dealt with some mechanical issues.  However, on Thanksgiving day we were able to get our feeders back up, and by the next day had lots of birds including this Northern Cardinal!  So far we have had 4 new species that we didn’t see here in the Spring!  Yesterday we planted most of a new butterfly and hummingbird garden area so that it will be ready for spring.  Now on to water features and blinds!
