A gila monster at the waterhole today. This is the second one here in three days. It has been busy as we pack things up, hard to to have the camera out. Lot of migrant birds, and the Harris’s hawks now have a nearby nest!

There are a couple very well used javelina trails on our property. I thought I would set up on one to see what I might get. I have a feeling other animals may also use this path as well, time will tell. This was last night! I used four separate flashes to light the desert and camtraption triggers for the camera and flashes. Godox flashes, Olympus camera with 12-100mm lens at 12. I do love the true silent mode for times like this.

Bullock’s oriole hiding in the brittlebush last week.
Since we have been busy with guests, I haven’t had a chance to photograph from the blinds. Last week I had a personal day scheduled, however I had to replace the hot water heater in our RV, so this photo is from walking around the yard mid day. Hopefully I will get a better chance soon, although it is nice to be busy at the Desert Photo Retreat!
In one week earlier this month we had two new species, a black phoebe and two black vultures. I inadvertently walked up upon the vultures as they sat at the water table, wow, they are huge when up close!

I’m back home in Alaska for a quick minute taking care of some business and couldn’t resist taking a photo of another beautiful sunrise over Mt. Alice! This was from a couple of minutes ago. I literally photographed this out the front door of the home office in my socks – not all photography has to be hard. 🙂 Â
