Now that I’m seeing more migrating birds passing through Seward, I’m getting excited to be heading back over to Cordova this Saturday for the amazing shorebird migration – first time in two years. Like two years ago, I’ll be helping guide two photo / bird tours while I’m there, one for Discovery Voyages, and one for Cheeseman’s Ecological Tours.
Words, and for that matter, photos are unable to do justice to the amazing sight of seeing tens of thousands of shorebirds flying, in beautiful flocks – see the color and patterns change as they “dance” in the air is mesmerizing.

Great picture. Just out of curiosity which bird were you focused on?

LOL – third one of the left.
Awesome series of posts from the migration, Ron! I love to see the shorebird flocks as they migrate up the coast, but can’t imagine what it must be like to be there to experience the spectacle at this density. I’m sure I’d be wide-eyed like the proverbial kid in a candy store.
(And LOL to Andy’s comment above!)

Hi Pat – you are right, I know I was wide-eyed like the proverbial kid in a candy store! When you hit it right, words and images just can’t do justice to this amazing sight! Thanks.
